Frequently asked questions.
Does Serena replace therapy or psychiatric care?
No. Serena is an emotional well-being companion, not a clinical service. It complements but does not replace a psychologist, psychiatrist or professional treatment. In a crisis, seek immediate professional help.
How much does Serena cost?
Serena has two plans: US$ 89.99 per year, which is US$ 7.50 a month, or US$ 24.99 per month. Both include unlimited messages. Billing goes through Google Play or the App Store, and you can cancel in the store whenever you want.
How does Serena work?
Serena is an app. You download it on Google Play, sign in with your Google or Apple account and pick a plan in the store. You talk by text or voice, in six languages, and your history stays on your device. It is for adults 18 and over.
Is Serena available on iPhone?
Not yet. Serena is on Google Play today, for Android 7.0 or newer. The iPhone version is under review on the App Store and is coming soon.
Are my conversations with Serena private?
Yes. Conversations, memories and tasks stay in encrypted storage on your device by default, and you can require biometrics, a PIN or your device passcode to open the app. Serena shows no ads, never sells your data and never trains AI models on your conversations.
What if I lose my phone? Do I lose my history?
Your history lives on your device, so it goes with the phone — unless you turn on secure backup. The copy is encrypted before it leaves your device and only your recovery code opens it. Not even Serena can read the copy or recover that code.
Can I try Serena before subscribing?
The annual plan includes a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Cancel in the store before the trial ends and you are not charged. The monthly plan has no free trial.
Serena offers emotional well-being support, but it does not replace the consultation and care of a psychologist, psychiatrist or other qualified mental health professional. It is a complementary tool: it should not be used as a substitute for diagnosis, treatment or professional advice.
The Serena app is intended for adults aged 18 or older. Parent or guardian consent does not authorize use by anyone under 18.
In case of severe symptoms, crisis or emergency, seek professional help immediately. Contact your local emergency services or a suicide-prevention hotline right away.
