How to Delete Your Serena Account

Updated on Jul 15, 2026 v 2026.07.15

In short

  • Delete your account directly in Serena under Settings, Account, Delete Account.
  • Account deletion removes the Firebase account, local app data, optional encrypted remote backup, AI content reports, and associated Serena service records where applicable.
  • Deleting the account does not cancel or refund an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription; subscriptions must be managed in the store.

This page applies to the Serena AI Companion mobile app for Android and iOS. Serena is a wellness-focused AI companion, not a medical or health service.

Delete Your Account in the App

  1. Open Serena and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. In Account, select Delete Account.
  4. Read the confirmation notice and select Delete Account again.
  5. Complete the Google or Apple reauthentication requested by the App.

An internet connection is required because Serena must complete the remote deletion steps before erasing the local account data. If a required remote step fails, the App keeps the local data so you can retry instead of presenting a partially completed deletion as successful.

Request Deletion Outside the App

If you cannot access Serena, email privacy@serenaapp.com with the subject Serena account deletion request. Use the email address associated with your Google or Apple sign-in when possible. Do not include conversation content, audio, recovery codes, backup keys, passwords, store receipts, or payment-card information.

We may ask for limited information needed to verify that you control the account. We will acknowledge and process verified requests within the period required by applicable law.

Data Deleted or Scheduled for Deletion

When the in-app deletion completes, Serena removes or initiates removal of the following data associated with the authenticated account, where present:

  1. The Firebase Authentication account.
  2. Google or Apple provider access, where the provider and platform support revocation from the App.
  3. Local conversation history, memories, tasks, reminders, preferences, cached subscription state, and other Serena data on that device.
  4. The optional end-to-end encrypted remote backup, including its active metadata and encrypted storage object.
  5. AI-content reports submitted by that account.
  6. The RevenueCat customer record and Serena’s non-authoritative subscription-support record, when configured and available.
  7. Live legal-consent records after the minimum compliance evidence described below is archived.

Temporary infrastructure replicas, deletion queues, or security logs may persist for a limited operational period. An encrypted backup object awaiting infrastructure cleanup is not designed to be readable by Serena without the keys that remain under the user’s control.

Data That May Be Retained

Serena may retain only data that is necessary for legal compliance, accounting, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, or establishing, exercising, or defending legal rights. This may include:

  1. A minimal backend-only consent archive for up to five years from account deletion or the latest consent event. It contains consent versions, document hashes, locale, app/build/platform information, timestamps, and a one-way account hash. It does not contain conversations, audio, memories, tasks, name, email, advertising IDs, device fingerprints, or AI-provider payloads.
  2. Limited subscription-support, transaction, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, refund, and dispute records for the period required by applicable law.
  3. Operational security and deletion evidence retained for a limited period under provider and legal requirements.

Apple, Google, and other independent providers may retain information under their own legal obligations and privacy policies. Serena cannot delete records controlled exclusively by those providers.

Subscriptions, Cancellation, and Refunds

Deleting a Serena account does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription, stop an active paid access period, or automatically issue a refund. Before deleting the account, manage or cancel the subscription from the subscription screen in Serena or directly in the store account used for the purchase.

Subscription cancellation, billing disputes, and refunds remain subject to Apple App Store or Google Play rules. Store transaction records may remain available to the store even after the Serena account is deleted.

Local Data and Secure Backup Are Different

The Delete local data control erases Serena data only from the current device. It does not delete the Firebase account, optional remote encrypted backup, RevenueCat customer, store purchase records, or limited backend records.

Use Delete Account for the full account flow. If you only want to remove an optional remote backup while keeping the account, use Settings > Secure backup > Disable and delete remote backup.
